Father of our growing family and a leader in the architectural field with over 36 years of experience. Daryl founded the company in 1999 and has successfully grown the business for the past 21 years. He is responsible for oversight of all work completed in all 4 offices. He has achieved much in his life, but his proudest accomplishments are his marriage to his wife Deanna of 29 years and his three beautiful daughters. An avid fitness and sports fanatic, Daryl brings the same intensity to his sporting & spiritual life as to his family and work. An unabashed follower of Jesus, Daryl spends as much of the little free time he has working in his local church, volunteering as a Chaplain at his local football/cricket club, playing competitive cricket and following the mighty Tigers (current premiers again in case you didn't know) in the AFL. A self-confessed chocoholic, don't even think of walking past him with any Cadbury chocolate. You might just lose a finger.
Nick is an avid sportsman and handyman who loves his time in the gym almost as much as his time at work. Nick has been with us at HDG for 7 years but has been handling Architectural Documentation for 10 years. His greatest strengths are his positive attitude, adaptability, reliability, perseverance, and high level of motivation. He is as dedicated to his work as to his family and friends and will always go the extra mile to keep his clients happy. Nick can often be found washing everyone elses dishes in the communal kitchen which tells you something of his character. Nick is one of our Vitorian managers in the Pakenham & soon to open Bentleigh office & performs all his duties with professionalism.
Matthew is one of our office managers and is responsible for all workflow decisions in the Bunbury office. A skilled Revit documentor & problem solver, Matthew has been with us since 2012 and manages all the Revit templates & drawing standards. Outside the office he is a keen golfer and current premiership player with Harvey Brunswick in the SWFL. Having grown up locally he has a good understanding of local regulations & building conditions. If you have Matthew handling your job you're in good hands.
Husband and father of two beautiful children, Scott is one of our office managers in the Pakenham office, resident outdoors-man and adrenalin junkie. He loves spending his time riding motocross, trail biking, surfing, snowboarding, fishing, camping, and landscaping. Supremely confident, but never arrogant, Scott brings the same passion he possesses for the outdoors to his design work. A master of 3D visualisation Scott is passionate about contemporary design, construction techniques, and customer satisfaction. He has been with us for 7 years but has been in the design industry for 21 years and still brings youthful exuberance to work each day.
Matthew joined our Ringwood office in the capacity of Office Manager in March 2020. He bring with him a wealth of 15 years of knowledge in the commercial & residential fields of building design. Matt recently moved to The Basin with his new Bride & loves working close to home. In his spare time he enjoys mountain biking and exploring the great outdoors. He enjoys a good pizza & gets to the AFL footy whenever he can. It must be said that, as an Essendon supporter, he rarely enjoys it!
Malcolm joined our Ringwood East team in 2018 after 24 years in private practice and over 30 years as a Registered Architect. Malcolm is a family man with a wife of 30 years & 2 adult children. He is a mad keen Richmond Tigers member who gets to as many games as he can. He enjoys the great outdoors having camped for many years with his family. He has had a distinguished career in competitive Floorball & still manages to play on the odd occasion. Malcolm was last seen at the 2019 AFL Grand Final attempting to get a Dusty Martin haircut. If anyone sees him please return to one of our office.
Alicia joined us in 2017 and has recently returned to her home town of Perth where she manages our Perth Office. She is an experienced designer with a vast array of experience. Whilst Alicia still services her Melbourne clients, if you live in Perth and require a building designer Alicia will be happy to meet with you to discuss your project. Whether it be a new residential build, an addition to your existing home or commercial work. Outside of work, Alicia is a mother of two children and a loving wife. As a family they enjoy sunny days relaxing at beautiful Western Australian beaches, spending time with extended family and travelling. She also enjoys a nice glass of wine or 3.
Gavin joined the Pakenham team in 2016. He brings with him a wealth of volume building knowledge. He is proficient in both architectural & structural drafting & has been involved in all aspects of pre-construction in a builders office. His addition brought the combined experience in the office to over 150 years. Proficient also in martial arts, the only downside for Gavin is that he supports Hawthorn, but we don't really let him talk about that.
Gary owned & operated his own award winning design business in Esperance for 20 years before joining us in 2017. Gary has a breadth of professional experience which would raise most people's eyebrows. His construction knowledge gives us a real advantage when dealing with difficult design issues. He is a jovial individual who enjoys a good laugh & is terrific conversationalist. Gary enjoys a beer or 3 with friends & visiting his Grandchildren in Dubai when he gets the chance.
Brooke asked to join us this year (2017) in a volunteer capacity as he was currently studying his Diploma of Building Design. We liked him so much we offered him a full time job & he has thrown himself fully into learning the ropes in our office. As a mature age family man with a young family, changing professions can be a perilous time. Brooke has shown that his application & hard work will ensure a long & successful career with the company. Recently Brooke has taken on the role of 'Revit Trainer' in our Pakenham office ensuring all new staff are well instructed in our software procedures.
Rose joined the Pakenham office in 2019 & brings with her 5 years of engineering experience & 4 years of Australian building design experience. She is passionate about design, which runs in the family, as her father is a civil engineer by profession. Rose was born in Cochin, India & is a loving wife & mother of two little children. Her special talent, outside of design, is Indian Classical dance. She also loves to cook & travel with her family. Rose rates her three most important things in life as trust, dedication & love. This fits perfectly in the our office ethos & we look forward to watching her develop as a senior designer.
Taj is one of our building designers in our Bunbury office. A skilled Revit documentor & problem solver, Taj has been with us since 2015 and manages all Revit documentation with skill & precision. Outside the office he is a keen photographer and has just returned from 6 months of world travel. Having grown up locally he has a good understanding of local regulations & building conditions. If you have Taj handling your job you're in good hands.
Leah joined us in November 2016 as a work experience student & joined the team full time as a graduate building designer in 2017. Leah has travelled extensively and this has provided a diverse background from which she draws fresh insights regarding the use of building form. Leah has brought to us a variety of skills including her passion for design combined with her previous experience in customer service. Leah is enjoying her new stage of life as a new parent with her husband Matthew. Her bubbly personality adds life & humour to the office on a daily basis.
Richard joined our Bunbury office in 2020 at the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. Originating from Bromwich in England, he has worked for the last 9 years in Perth with Architectural firms. He brings with him 14 years of experience in commercial, hospitality, health & residential spheres. His recent move to Donnybrook in the sunny South West has enhanced our office's capacity to produce quality designs over a broad spectrum of projects. A soccer player & big fan of West Bromwich, you may find him knocking out a tune on the guitar or painting the new 'Corona Lisa' when not on the pitch. Richard is married with one young daughter & a lover of all things chocolate.
Lisa joined the team in 2018 after many years’ experience in Administration & Personal Assistant roles within Education & Public organisations. She brings a sense of order to the office & makes sure the work flows smoothly from start to finish. In her spare time she is a wife & mother to 2 children & loves to spend time at church and camping with her family. Her daughter keeps her active as a ‘Calisthenics Mum’ & she serves on the State Youth Games Committee as well. We love having Lisa on board & she is enjoying working in the building design industry. She also makes a mean hot chocolate!
Diane is the administration guru & director of first impressions in our Bunbury office. She is well versed in all administrative tasks & also manages the accounts receivable. Di is responsible for the production & submission of all tender documents & follow up with authorities. Di is always quick with a laugh & has a definite weakness for Cadbury chocolate bars which she keeps stacked in the fridge. Don't let the salad she's eating fool you.
In every company someone has to keep the boys and girls in line. In our office that's Deanna. Responsible for accounts payable and keeping the business afloat, Deanna cares deeply about making sure things are running smoothly. Her friendly face & outgoing phone manner make her the ideal person to resolve any account issues in a prompt & efficient manner. Deanna loves a laugh but never at someone else's expense. She passionately cares about her family & friends and can be trusted to go the extra mile very time. Deanna has been with the company since the very beginning in 1999 and brings common sense with her every day to work. Her weakness...chocolate bullets (Aldi brand please).
